“Sound navigation means working with the client to identify goals in resolving the dispute, to critically and creatively explore the range of options to achieve those goals, to prioritize the goals, and, mindful of the goals, to chart the course for realizing them.”
— alexandra moore-wulsin

Alexandra (Xana) delivers outstanding counsel and advocacy to family law clients. Her commitment to help clients change their legal and personal relationships with dignity and while minimizing harm to others, especially children, is at the core of her representation. Each family law situation presents unique facts and emotions deserving a thoughtful, financially reasonable, and strategic approach. Known as a well-organized, articulate and firm – yet fair – advocate, Alexandra’s quick mind translates to incisive and fast thinking on her feet. She draws on her deep understanding of the law, the policy behind it, and common sense in representing her clients. This is particularly reflected in her work on financial issues and in creating parenting plans sensitive to nurturing children’s relationships with their parents.

Alexandra’s rich background in the private and public sectors and in community leadership adds depth and breadth to her knowledge base and skills. She is well versed in multiple dispute resolution models, including Collaborative Law, direct negotiation, mediation, and litigation. She has guided professionals, business owners, employees and stay at home spouses. They are employees of start-ups and privately held and publicly traded local and national businesses. She handles financial estates from the simple to the very complex.

In addition to representing clients in her private practice, Alexandra serves as a mediator for family law disputes. She also serves as a Guardian ad Litem for vulnerable aduts and minors under Title 11 RCW, for minors in Title 4 actions, and for the court to make recommendations about a divorcing party’s need for a Guardian ad Litem during the divorce. She has served on and led many Boards in her 30 years as an attorney. In that role, she is known as a strategic thinker and a skilled consensus builder.

Finally, Alexandra enjoys taking in all the Pacific Northwest offers, including hiking and gardening, and spending time with family and friends.

what i’ve learned

“Each client’s sense of loss and reclamation differs. I have learned the vital importance of deep listening to understand my client’s story and to identify long term goals essential to reaching an effective outcome. In my Collaborative cases, I focus clients on identifying and articulating goals and building options to reach a self-determined and lasting resolution. With the support of other professionals, the Collaborative Law team facilitates the conversations necessary to achieve a durable agreement that each partner can accept. In my litigation cases, I develop a practical and efficient strategy tailored to each client’s unique legal and factual situation to advocate for her or his long-term goals. Regardless of the dispute resolution model, I advocate a trust-but-verify approach, and I look for and present viable, creative, and effective solutions.

I have learned that civility reaps the greatest rewards in the outcome of a case, how a client feels about her or his participation, the lower financial cost of the divorce, and the preservation of relationships of those whose lives remain intertwined for many years after the dispute is resolved.”

Smart, creative, compassionate counsel
I knew Xana professionally and personally before hiring her to handle the post-divorce acrimony between me and my ex-husband. The work she has done so far has exceeded my already high expectations. She works hard to put her clients’ needs first, and is very accessible and very present. Read more…
